SX-737 was introduced in 1974 and following typical Pioneer receiver production runs of two years, was offered through 1975. Pioneer greatly expanded its receiver line in 1974 with a total of eleven models, which included three quadraphonic receivers. Pioneer ran a full-page ad in Stereo Review: "The new SX-737. So much for so little."
The ad opened with: "With its extraordinary engineering, advanced design concept and extreme flexibility, Pioneer's new SX-737 AM-FM stereo receiver offers a level of performance that can only be described as awesome." The SX-737 was rated at 35 watt per channel which adequately served most applications. List price was just under $400.00
